Circulation Concept

To begin with, I design the centre of the building as the main vehicle access (figure 1). I want the people to get the “gate feeling” from the building. However, I try to minimize the vehicle activity on the part which facing to the camping area.

The figure below shows the ramp that will connect the hills.  This ramp represents “the bridge” that I try to convey in my concept.

The diagram above shows the initial plan. In this phase, I want to arrange the building program so it will fit the function (museum and theatre). To begin with, I separate the theatre and museum on the first and second level. However, on the third level I combine both building; therefore people can cross over the building through the public space which I provide on the third floor.

Based on this analysis, I try to develop an initial floor plan for my design as my diagram below.

Furthermore, I also try to develop people circulation in the living museum which can allow visitor to experience the self sufficient. Therefore I try to trace back how people can achieve self sufficient, and found a diagram that show the time frame from when the community was self sufficient until it will become self sufficient again.

Based on the diagram, I try to represent each self sufficient era community based on the present cultures which are:
·         ~ Past Self Sufficient Community: Aboriginal Culture
·         ~ Modern Community (Least Self Sufficient Era): Asian culture
·         ~ Modern Green Community (Begin to transform back to Self Sufficient era): Western Culture
·         ~ Self Sufficient Modern Community: Future Culture (exhibition concept about green technology and lifestyle)

To conclude, I try to implement my concept not only to the building shape but also the circulation.
